Minors Softball

Director of Softball – Tim Desmarais

AAA Minors - Ages 8-9 (Generally grades 4-5)

The foundation of softball pitching begins at this level with up to 5 pitches thrown to each batter by the player and coach pitch for pitches 6 and beyond.  Team building, sportsmanship and keeping the game fun are all important components at this age level.  

The minor division’s focus is on foundational skill building with an emphasis on teaching the proper mechanics of throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and baserunning.

The schedule consists of 2 games per week on Tuesday and Thursday and 1 practice per week (coaches discretion), at Eldredge or EGHS fields for home games. The team travels locally in the district to play other towns. The district is comprised of teams from East Greenwich, North Kingstown, South Kingstown, Narraganset, and Warwick North.

Equipment requirements are minimal and generally consist of a softball glove.

Registration is $150 (Each player receives a team jersey and socks)

Season begins at the end of April and finishes early June

Qualifying 8's will be allowed to play up in AAA for 10U for tournament eligibility and exposure to advanced concepts. 

AA Minors - Ages 7-8 (Generally grades 2-3)

The minor division’s focus is on foundational skill building with an emphasis on teaching the proper mechanics of throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and baserunning.

The schedule consists of Saturday games and One practice per week (coaches discretion), at Eldredge or EGHS fields for home games. 

Equipment requirements are minimal and generally consist of a softball glove.

Season begins at the end of April and finishes early June.
